The broad spectrum anti-epilepsy medication drugs treats the various types of seizures and the person can experience fatigue, insomnia and dizziness as side effects of the drugs. The narrow spectrum anti-epilepsy medication is mainly used to manage specific seizures that the person has and the side effects differ depending on which formulation has been administered to the epileptic person. The narrow spectrum anti-epilepsy medication is administered as a solution, oral table or IV injection. The two anti-epilepsy medications are used to control the seizures that person with epilepsy will portray. The triggers that a person has identified are mostly used to show the effectiveness of the drugs. The condition needs to be managed since there are various risk factors.
There are other ways in which epilepsy can be managed when the drugs are not effective on the recurrent seizures. The options available when the medication doesn’t work include the vagus nerve stimulation and brain surgery. Vagus nerve stimulation involves sending electric impulses to the brain using a stimulator device that is placed under the epileptic patient skin. In brain surgery the part that causes seizures is removed but the process is final when it came me to treating epilepsy. Ketogenic diet can also be incorporated since there are studies that show the beneficial value for those who don’t respond to anti-epilepsy drugs.
